Josie Ann Landry Darbonne, 65, of Lake Charles, LA, died on Monday, January 25, 2016 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Darbonne was born March 21, 1950 in Lawtell, LA and has lived in Lake Charles for over forty years. She worked at TG&Y for eighteen years and then worked as a teacher’s aide at Combre-Fondel Elementary School. She will always be remembered for her lively personality and her loving and kind ways. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed volunteering at her children’s school activities and more recently at her grandchildren’s school activities. Mrs. Darbonne loved fashion and was always dressed perfectly. She had a love of hats and Zydeco music and could often be found at the Pryce – Miller Recreational and Walk Center where she spent time talking and drinking coffee with her friends. She will truly be missed by all who loved and adored her.
Mrs. Darbonne is survived by her children, Monafeitha Merie Darbonne of Spring, TX, Makeitta Ann Darbonne-Broussard of Lake Charles, and Markeith Wendel Darbonne of Lake Charles; siblings, DallyRuth Biagas of Lawtell, LA, Rose Malveaux of Baton Rouge, Bernadine Gordon (Roland) of Houston, TX, and Claudell Landry of Opelousas, Allen Landry and wife Paulette of Houston, TX, and; and her grandchildren, Mykenzie Noelle Darbonne and Markeith Wendel Darbonne, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-eight years, John Wendel Darbonne; parents, Allen and Adeline Landry; siblings, Evelyn Broussard, Cordwell Landry, Kelly Landry and Lovenia Fontenot.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 29, 2016 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Father Wayne LeBleu will officiate. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery in Lake Charles. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Friday from 8:00 AM to 10:15 AM.
