Joyce E. Thompson, 85, of Lake Charles was born to the late James H. Hughey and Cora Alverde Hughey on May 18, 1928 in Olive Branch, MS. Mrs. Thompson attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Port Arthur, Medical Technology colleges in Houston, Sowela Technical Institute and McNeese State University.
She worked in various medical fields: Phlebotomy; Medical and Radiology Technology; and nearly thirty years in Nursing. She enjoyed reading, gardening, games of strategy, the Arts and dancing around the house to Motown. Mrs. Thompson was a true dog person, having always had two or three furry friends to complete her home.
She was a firm believer in the love of Christ and the power of redemption and salvation. She leaves us only to slip away to the next room to join her beloved husband, M.C. Thompson, and family in Heaven.
Joyce leaves a loving daughter, Julianna Farrar and her dedicated husband Will Farrar; two precious grandchildren, Steven and Ariana Farrar; a sister, Camilla Anne McBride; two nieces, Margaret Ann Walter and Sharon Stewart; a nephew, Andy McBride; Aunt Gladys Carter, Jocelyn and Stephanie Raimer, other dear relatives; numerous friends; and her beloved and devoted canine companions.
The family of Joyce Thompson would like to express their appreciation to those who have shown kindness and offered help during this time of stress and sorrow. May God continue to bless and keep you.
