Joyce Ninn Istre

Joyce Marie Ninn Romero Istre, 86, of Lake Charles, LA died at 10:25 AM on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in her residence.

Mrs. Istre was born August 5, 1926 in Lake Charles, LA, where she was a life resident and was raised a member of the catholic faith. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will always be remembered as a great cook and was known for her gumbo.

Mrs. Istre is survived by her son, Kenneth Istre and fiance'e Vickie Buford; daughter, Cathy Hodges and husband Keith; siblings, Mary Jo Thompson and husband George, Willie Dell Reid and husband Elroy, Theresa Garcia, Frank Vigo and wife Marquiette, William Vigo and wife Nancy, Floyd Romero and wife Ann, Nora Romero, Lena Dalovisio, Mary Bell VanWinkle and husband J.T., Henry Romero and wife Carla, Julia Mae Ravia and husband Noah, and Kelly Vigo and wife Judy; grandchildren, Jessica Duguay and husband Jeff, Andrea Vina and husband Ray, Renee Grigus and husband Jimmy, and John Broussard; and great-grandchildren, Ethan and Kane Vina, James Peter Grigus and Emiley Duguay.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elward Istre, parents, Joseph and Emma Daigle Romero; daughter, Judy Istre; and brother, Johnny Vigo.

Her funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Kelly Vigo will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM and continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
