Joyce Lena Simon Marcantel, 76, passed away from this life on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in a local hospital. Joyce was a native of Kaplan, LA and a long term resident of Lake Charles and was a graduate of Crowley High School graduating in the top ten percent of her class. She went to work for Huber Oil and then later a sales clerk for Wal-Mart. She enjoyed crafting ceramics, painting, watching and shopping QVC, and Avon cosmetics. She was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and later active in church services at Landmark of Lake Charles. Joyce is preceded in death by her late husband and father of her children John A. Marcantel, Sr.; second husband Edward Marcantel; sons, John Ation Marcantel, Jr., & James Dean Marcantel; parents, Alcee Simon and Marie Thibodeaux Simon; & siblings, Mabel Simon, Woodley Simon, Ozite Bergeron, Melvin Simon, Richard Simon, & Laura Bell Simon. She is survived by her daughter Jody Frazier of Moss Bluff,; grandchildren Haley Johnson (husband Chris), Jared Riley, Megan Lyons, & J.T. Marcantel; great-grandchildren, Emmaleigh, Paisleigh, Carter, Elijah, & Carson; and nieces Jean Cormier & Audrey Plaisance both of Houston, TX. Visitation will be on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home (4321 Lake Street in Lake Charles) from 8:00 AM until Rosary at 9:45 AM. The funeral service will follow at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with the Father Bill Miller officiating. Entombment will be in Consolata Cemetery.
