Juanita Lynn Gregory Duplantis

July 19, 1940 — June 4, 2017

Juanita Lynn Gregory Duplantis, 76, passed away at a local hospital surrounded by her loved ones on June 4, 2017.

 

“A hero is someone who has given their life to something bigger than one’s self.” Mrs. Duplantis was a loving Mom and Maw Maw; she loved all her babies, she is her family’s hero. She was born in Monticello, AR and lived there until 1945. She then moved to Alexandria, LA until 1957 then moved to Lake Charles. She loved to go on cruises and visit the casino.

 

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, TJ Duplantis; seven children, Brenda Oquain, Ronald Bonnette and wife Cheryl, Jodi Bonnette Manning and husband John, Jay Duplantis Jr. and wife Cheryl, Bridgette Schwartz and husband Troy, Kara Bonnette, and Dustin Bonnette and wife Allison; two son-in-laws, Ben Bass, and Dicky Oquain; sister, Nancy Beard; twenty grandchildren; and thirty three great grandchildren with two more on the way.

 

Mrs. Duplantis is preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Myrtle Gregory; three children, Tina Kim Duplantis, Karen Bonnette, James Bonnette Jr.; granddaughter, Kelli Bonnette; in-laws, Henry and Lula Duplantis, and Henry and Lula Bonnette; and her first husband, James Bonnette.

 

A funeral will be held at Johnson Funeral Home at 2:30PM on Friday June 9, 2017. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery. Rev. Clifton Stevens will officiate. Visitation will begin Friday June 9 at the funeral home at 10AM until the time of the service. A rosary will be held at 11AM by Father Brian King.

 

The family would like to thank Lake Charles Police Department, Lake Charles Fire Department, the doctors and nurses at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, and the 9th floor MICU for the loving and compassionate care they all gave to Mom during this difficult time.
