Judy Armistead

Judy Mays Armistead, 73, of Moss Bluff died at 6:30 AM on Wednesday, April 03, 2013 in a local care facility.


Mrs. Armistead was born on December 16, 1939 in Lafayette, LA. She was a graduate of Marion High School and continued her education at Sowela Technical Institute receiving an LPN degree. Mrs. Armistead retired from Christus St. Patrick Hospital. She was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church.


Besides being one of the best O.B. Nurses St. Patrick's ever had, she was a terrific cook and also enjoyed Pokeno.


She leaves to honor her memory two brothers, L.H. Mays and wife Nancy of Prattville, AL and Roland C. Mays and wife Dianna of Lake Charles; and two step daughters, Marti Armistead of Lake Charles, LA and Mimi Armistead of Beaumont, TX. Judy also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and good friends.


She was preceded in death by her husband, G.G. Armistead; parents, Jake and Florence Mays; two brothers, Juluis and Jessie Mays; and four sisters, Ruby Nash, Flo Jackson, Gladys Chesson, and Mable Ritenour.


In respect of Judy's wishes, her body was cremated under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.


The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, Extended Care of Southwest Louisiana, and to all of the doctors and nurses who gave their time and knowledge, especially Dr. Brian Clements.
