Judy Elaine North Benoit

Judy Elaine North Benoit, 63, of Lake Charles passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2017 in a Houston, TX hospital with her husband of 38 years by her side.

Mrs. Benoit was born on June 25, 1954 in Columbus, IN to George and Lois North. She lived in Lake Charles all of her life and was a graduate of LaGrange High School. Mrs. Benoit was a training store manager for Church’s Chicken for more than 30 years and later worked in the cafeteria for the Calcasieu Parish School Board. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.

She enjoyed crocheting and crabbing. She adored her family and her three beloved dogs, Beau, Lanie, and Jax.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Roger Benoit; three daughters, Angie Kirby, Ashley Custer, and Paige Owen; a sister, Shirley Saltzman; five grandchildren, Brenden Martin, Austin Kirby, Brianna Jones, Lily Custer, and Elize Custer and one on the way; a great grandchild on the way; extended family, Bill, Nina, and Billy Doherty; and many others that called her “Mawmaw JuJu”. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Glen, Larry, and Robert North; a grandmother, Isuance Fontenot; and her in laws, Melvin and Imogene Benoit.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the First Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. John Hoffpauir will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Wednesday in the funeral home from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Thursday in the church from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
