Jules E. Guglielmo, Sr., 91, of Lake Charles passed away Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the SWLA War Veterans Home.
He was born on November 8, 1919 to Joseph and Lucille Guglielmo in Paulina, LA and was a resident of Lake Charles for over 60 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Charles.
Jules was a World War II veteran who served in the 10the Mountaineer Division in Italy. For over 50 years, Jules was an insurance agent, real estate broker, and a real estate appraiser, having held positions for local, state, and national associations for realtors.
Jules enjoyed fishing, traveling, and gardening. He was past president and lifetime member of the SW Louisiana Fishing Club. Jules was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He leaves to cherish their memories his wife of 30 years, Peggy Guglielmo; daughters, Linda Denham and husband Fuqua of Baton Rouge, LA and Susan Wilhite; sons Jules, Jr., Michael P., and Gregory Guglielmo; step daughters, Patricia Dodd and husband Richard, Susie Ruth and husband Robert, and Janice Burge and husband Larry; grandchildren, Dr. Kennon Guglielmo, Angela, Joseph, Trace, and Justin Guglielmo, Melissa Parish, Ashley Holland, Tara Fuslier, Tessa Abshire, Yvonne Masterson, Chris Burge, and Blake Dodd; and eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.
The family wishes to give special thanks to the SWLA War Veterans Home and Odyssey Hospice for all the special care they gave Jules.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home, 1610 Evangeline Hwy, Jennings, LA 70546.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jan Coultier will officiate. Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time of services.
