Jules Patrick "Butch" Donovan

Jules Patrick Donovan, 79, of Lake Charles, LA, died on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in his residence.

Mr. Donovan was born December 1, 1937 in Lake Charles, LA, where he was a lifelong resident. He was raised in Goosport and was a graduate of Landry High School. Mr. Donovan worked for forty-five years for the City of Lake Charles as a Superintendant over Wastewater, retiring in 2004. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, where he was a part of CFM, Christian Family Movement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, and looked forward to his annual trips to Toledo Bend. Mr. Donovan also loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and his dog.

Mr. Donovan is survived by his wife of almost fifty-five years, Billie Fox Donovan; children, Terry Donovan, William Patrick Donovan and wife Amy, Anna Hemker and husband Paul, and Jeremy Patrick Donovan and wife Shara, all of Lake Charles; sisters, Jerry Storts of Ardmore, OK and Susan Stanford and husband Leo of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Meghan Donovan, Kourtney Donovan, Alexis Miller, John Hemker, Dillon Donovan, Amber Donovan, Danielle Donovan, Ava Hemker, and Ellia Donovan; great-grandchild, Kaiden Gauthreaux; and his Saturday Morning Coffee Group Members, Norman Dartez, Larry Ogea, Billy Miller, and Billy Ryan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Elma Donovan; sister, Carice “Cappy” Ryan and her husband, his best friend, Henry “Boogie” Ryan.

His funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Father Alan Trouille and Deacon Glenn Viau will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM and continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
