Jules Riley Bellard

February 15, 1939 — July 7, 2016

Jules Riley Bellard, 77, of Lake Charles passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016 in a local hospital.

Mr. Bellard was born in Opelousas and has lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He was a graduate of Marion High School where he was a talented athlete. He worked twenty-five years as a Butcher, his younger years for A&P, where he was also the Market Manager. Mr. Bellard began many years of coaching Little League baseball when his boys where young and later coached coed softball. He also helped to form and played for the first Men’s Fast Pitch team in Lake Charles. He found great pride in following his children and grandchildren as their “biggest fan” to all of their events. He always gave 110% at everything and was a gifted gardener and a great cook. Mr. Bellard lost his vision many years ago and never let it slow him down. Many people, who didn’t know, might would never know. “Due to his blindness, he saw the world through his family’s eyes” and they were always more than willing to paint the picture. He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. Mr. Bellard will be most remembered for his love and devotion to his family.

He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Leverdie Hoffpauir Bellard of Lake Charles; two daughters, Karen Bellard Miller and husband Michael and Julie Bellard Vincent of Sulphur; two sons, Jules Riley Bellard, Jr. and wife Jenny of Sulphur and Brandon G. Bellard and wife Anjanette of Lake Charles; seven grandchildren, Nikki Miller of Lake Charles, Dawn Henson of Moss Bluff, Zachary Bellard of Lake Charles, Amanda Erbelding of Lake Charles, Devaney Bellard of Bell City, Jared Bellard and Noah Bellard, both of Lake Charles; nine great-grandchildren and one on the way and nephew and dear friend, Larry “Cliff” Fuselier.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Beatrice Darbonne Bellard and one sister, Vivian Priola.
