Julie Ann Hughes, 43, of Sulphur passed away on June 24, 2016. Julie was a 1990 graduate of Sulphur High School and a member of the Sulphur High Band. After high school she graduated from Sowela Technical College in Process Technology where she taught for 8 years. Julie also worked for Bellsouth as an Electronics Tech for 8 years, then got the job of her dreams at Polaris Engineering, until her illness progressed where she could not work. Julie was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church in Sulphur and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Julie is survived by her parents, Jim and JoAnn Lognion Hughes of Sulphur; her two children, Taylor Rochelle of Sulphur and Brock Landry of San Clamente, CA; her sister, Jane Hughes Mayon and husband Michael of Sulphur; and her fur babies, “Otis” and “Kitty Witty” who comforted her through her illness. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, LeRoy Lognion and Pauline Lognion; her paternal grandparents, S.O. “Hopper” Hughes and Bernice Hughes; her 2 uncles, LeRoy Lognion, Jr. and Nolan Landry; her 2 aunts, Renee’ Lognion and Charlotte Hughes Landry.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 6 P.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 4- 6 P.M. with the eulogy beginning at 6 P.M. by Shelby Kibodeaux, followed by Fr. Aubrey Guilbeau, then the rosary by Claby Mere, Jr. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson and Robison Funeral with entombment being at a later date.
The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Broussard and all the staff at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital Oncology Department. Also Harbor House Hospice and their staff, including the nursing staff, and especially her care giver, Monique Babin. Also, a special thanks to Melvin Cox and Terrell Saucier at Sowela Technical College for their help through her illness.
