Julie I. Menard Darbonne

Julie I. Menard Darbonne, 61 years old, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023 in Sugar Land, TX.  She was born on July 4, 1961 to Raymond and Odile Frederick Menard in Lake Charles, LA.

Julie had an independent, strong personality.  She was a woman of an incredibly strong, fighter spirit and lived every day with that spirit.  From very early on, Julie had medical problems.  Each one, throughout the years, tried to wear her down - to no avail.  She had this supernatural spirit for life.  And no matter what her difficulties were, she always seemed to smile so beautifully while encouraging others.  With a spirit like hers, it was no surprise she was quite the social butterfly.  She loved “visiting” and chatting with friends and family alike.  Her regularly scheduled nail and hair appointments with her gals were breeding grounds for great laughs and the best selfies.  She was a selfie queen!  And if you found yourself catching up with her on the phone, you were lucky if the conversation lasted less than an hour.  She will always be remembered, loved, and cherished for her strength, kindness, and her incredible will to endure and never give up.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Shannon and Kellie, her brother, Deacon Ray Menard, her stepdaughters, Danielle and Amanda, and her grandchildren, Kayla and Augustine.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Odile, and her father, Raymond.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at St. Margaret Catholic Church.  Father Andy Derouen will serve as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. The visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Tuesday morning from 9:00 AM until leaving in procession to the church at 11:00 AM.

The family would like to give special thanks to her doctors and the care teams that worked hard throughout the years to keep her as healthy as they could.
