Julius “Bud” McCain, 87, of Moss Bluff, LA died surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, January 30, 2016.
Bud was born on January 12, 1929 in Sarasota, FL to William and Theresa McCain. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling. He had great memories of racing sailboats as a teenager. Bud was well known for helping many people get into business. He was an entrepreneur at heart. Bud proudly served our country as a Merchant Marine from 1949 to 1959 and was a lifelong Mason of Moss Bluff Lodge #462. He also was on the Water Board of Moss Bluff from 1969 to 2004. Bud was also instrumental in getting laws passed and pioneered self service gas stations for the State of Louisiana in 1968.
He is survived by his four children, William Earl McCain of Frisco, TX, Jon McCain and wife Kathy of Broussard, LA, Mark McCain of Moss Bluff, LA, and Danny McCain and wife Pam of Moss Bluff, LA; thirteen grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
Bud is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Irma Earl McCain.
Services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Gateway Church of God of Moss Bluff, LA. Visitation will begin Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Gateway Church of God in Moss Bluff, LA from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume Wednesday at the church from 8:00 AM until time of service. Rev. Richard Rials will officiate services. Burial will be at Old Ritchie Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shriners Hospital in memory of Julius “Bud” McCain.
