June Ann Swickard Hopes, 74, of Moss Bluff, LA died at 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 in her residence. Mrs. Hopes was born April 4, 1941 in Jefferson, OH, raised in Rock Creek, OH and lived in Moss Bluff for the past forty-one years.
She worked as a construction accounting analyst for twenty nine years at PPG of Lake Charles. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Lake Charles, and served as a Deaconess Chairman and a Sunday School teacher. She also enjoyed spending her time at the Senior Circle. Mrs. Hopes enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Bayou Promenaders. She always loved to further her knowledge and would take leisure learning trips with McNeese State University. She loved to travel, bake, read, and sew. Mrs. Hopes did volunteer work for Abraham’s Tent, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Lunch Buddy Program at Westwood School, and reading at Moss Bluff Elementary and Oak Park Elementary.
Mrs. Hopes is survived by her son, Todd Hopes of Houston, TX; daughters, Kerry Hopes of Lafayette, LA and Penny Hopes of Moss Bluff; sister, Karen Sylvester and husband Edward of Jefferson, OH; and grandchildren, John Hopes, Bryce Peterson, and Zachary Peterson.
She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years, Richard Wayne Hopes.
Her memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Chandler Willis will officiate. A gathering of family members and friends will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
