June Yvonne Cornwell

June Yvonne Cornwell, 89, of Sulphur passed away at 9:09 AM on Saturday, October 2, 2021 in her residence.

June was born to Hubert and Mildred Pipkin on December 16, 1931 in Wichita Falls, TX.  Following business college, she moved to Beaumont, TX to work, where she met and married the love of her life, Rev. Billy Cornwell, on April 27, 1957.  This led to 64 years of a loving partnership in service to God, from pastoring churches in Beaumont, TX and Jennings, LA to teaching adult Sunday school class at Glad Tidings Assemblies of God Church for 45 years.  She also led the Women’s Prayer Group at Glad Tidings for over 25 years.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father; brother, H.O. (Sonny) Pipkin, Jr.; granddaughters, Jessica Ardoin, and Jessica and Jennifer Leger. 

She is survived by her loving husband, Billy; daughter, Rebecca Morgan (Ken); son, Roger Cornwell (Mary); grandchildren, Julian and Elizabeth Cornwell; three precious great grandchildren; and two sisters, Sue Best and Jerry Nell Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Glad Tidings Assemblies of God Church.  The Rev. Gary Evers will officiate.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Visitation will begin on Thursday at the church from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.

The family would like to thank her dear friend and caregiver, Cheryl Grigsby, for her loving care over the last few months.
