Junius Oldilon Joe Daigle

Junius Odilon "Joe" Daigle, 91, of Big Lake, LA died at 2:36 PM on Monday, July 2, 2012 in a local hospital.


Mr. Daigle was born July 28, 1920 in Big Lake, LA, where he lived most of his life. He worked as a diesel mechanic and tankerman for Sabine Towing, Edward's Barge Transportation, and retired from DeVall Towing in the 1970's. He was a member of the Seafarer's International Union in Port Arthur, TX. Mr. Daigle enjoyed fishing, hunting, building houses, and fixing things. He will always be remembered as a people person.


Mr. Daigle is survived by his son, Ray Daigle and wife Cheryl of Big Lake; daughter, Anna Mae Stermer of Krotz Springs, LA; sister, Helen Poole of Lake Charles; granddog, Millie; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Popp Daigle; and parents, Eugenia and Suzette Miller Daigle.


His memorial service will be at 12:00 PM on Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Garry Mann will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
