Kara Makenzie Lemons

December 11, 2003 — June 4, 2023

Kara Makenzie Lemons, 19, of Lake Charles was welcomed into the Heavens Sunday, June 04, 2023 following a car accident.

Kara was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles, born December 11, 2003.  She was a 2022 honors graduate of Barbe High School and studied at McNeese State University where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority.  She was currently working as a server at the pools of L ‘Auberge Casino Resort and was planning to apply to Cosmetology school with ambitions of owning her own salon.  She always liked to dress up: hair, nails, all things "girly" and found joy in making up her younger sisters so that they felt special too.  Kara took great pride in being a big sister and being a 2nd mom to her younger siblings.  She also enjoyed gymnastics, dance and loved swimming and sunshine.  Kara loved life!  She was a bright, happy spirit with a welcoming heart and a beautiful smile.  She will be dearly missed.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her parents, Daniel Samson Lemons and Dana Nicole Lemons; two brothers, Cole and Collin Lemons; four sisters, Kaylee, Kylie, Kenna and Korryn Lemons, all of Lake Charles; grandparents, Debbie Ortego Dilts and Jerry and Jodi Lemons, all of Lake Charles; aunts, Michelle Guillotte (Joey), Julie Walker: Godmother, Bethany Dilts Theriot (Bryan), Alicia Perez (Steven),Sondra Woodard (Troy) and uncle, Jerry Lemons, Jr.: Godfather (Jennifer).  She also leaves numerous cousins and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, David Dilts; maternal great grandparents, David and Mae Dilts and Willie and Una Ortego and paternal great-grandparents, Dave and Aquilla Lemons and Clarence Ward and Virginia Pitman.

A Mass of Christian burial  will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.  Father Paul Jussen will officiate.  Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Visitation Wednesday will begin with a rosary service at 10:00 AM and will continue until 1:45 PM in the funeral home.
