Karen Lee Courville

Karen Lee Courville born March 5, 1949, in Vinton, LA passed away in a local hospice facility on Saturday, September 4, 2021 surrounded by her family.

She attended Sulphur United Pentecostal Church for 40 years and loved the Lord with all her heart. Karen loved to cook, especially for her family and the church. She adored her children and her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are three children, Kenneth Istre, Sr. and wife Louise, Gloria Meyers and husband Charles, and Monica Downs and husband Josh; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Shelia Mobley, and Pamela Lilyquist; and one brother, Elie Joseph Courville. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Elie Courville and Lavern Courville; son, David Istre; brother, Evans Courville; first husband, Terry Istre and second husband, Lou Istre.

Services celebrating Karen’s life will be 11 am, Friday, September 10, 2021, in Johnson & Robison Funeral Home of Sulphur. Burial will follow in Big Woods Cemetery. Rev. Jeanne Gunter will officiate. Visitation will be 4 – 8pm, Thursday in the funeral home and will resume Friday 8am until time of service at 11.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Johnson & Robison Funeral Home to help the family with final expenses.
