Katherine "Kate" Bel Brewer

Katherine "Kate" Bel Brewer, 53, of Lake Charles died at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in her residence. Kate was born on October 29, 1960 in Boulder, CO. She was a descendant of the Lake Charles pioneer families, J.A. Bel and Daniel Goos. Kate was a lifelong residence of Lake Charles, a graduate of Barbe High School, and attended McNeese State University majoring in her passion, history. Kate was the executive secretary for the family oil, gas, and farming business before retiring in 2006. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and reading books. Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Megan Katherine Mancuso and fiancé, Ryan Clement of Hathaway; a son, Michael Mancuso and significant other, Danielle Delon of Lake Charles; her mother, Katherine G. "Ducky" Brewer of Lake Charles; a sister, Lacey Brewer of Houston; a brother, Andrew Brewer and wife Kris of Lake Charles; and two nieces, Angela Euliarte of Lake Charles and Ashley Olmsted of Houston. She also leaves behind the father of her children, Kent Mancuso of Lake Charles; and three of her closest friends, Margaret Quienalty, Eddie Cassell, and Dorothy Cole all of Lake Charles. She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Brewer; and a sister, Karen Brewer. A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Friday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue in the funeral home on Saturday from 8:00 AM until leaving for the church at 12:30 PM.
