Katherine Renee Lancaster

Katherine Renee Lancaster, age 49, passed away at her home early Saturday morning surrounded by her loving family, June 21, 2014, after a battle with cancer. Katherine was born October 6, 1964 in Alexandria, La, the daughter of Joyce and Jerry Wales Sr. She is survived by her two children, daughter Shannon Robertson of Moss Bluff, La, and son Richard Robertson of Breaux Bridge, La; one grandchild, Amber Robertson; parents, Joyce and Jerry Wales Sr. of Lake Charles, La; one brother, Jerry Wales Jr of Rosepine, La. Katherine is reunited with her daughter, Kristan Denise Lancaster, and brother, Joey Dale Wales. "Kat" was an incredible person who overcame many obstacles and hardships throughout her life and was an inspiration to many people. A few of her accomplishments were as a lobbyist and activist for children with disabilities while serving under the governor. She helped set several laws in motion to help those less fortunate. She began Katz Unlimited Productions and managed several inspiring bands, from all over Louisiana, for some time. She was a loyal daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend who believed strongly in family values. In her spare time, she enjoyed singing, fishing, games and playing with her beloved granddaughter. "Kat" believed in helping others and sharing everything! In lieu of flowers, we request that you do a good deed for someone in need, something she did often. It was her request that the memorial be a private event for close family and friends.
