Katherine Weitz Toney

Katherine Weitz Toney, 80, of Lake Charles died at 1:58 PM on Thursday, August 5, 2010 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Toney was a native of Pittsburg, PA and lived in Lake Charles since 1946. She was a member of the 1948 graduating class of LaGrange High School. She was a member of the Daughter's of American Revolution, receiving a 50 year award. She also belonged to the Ladies of the Sahara. Mrs. Toney was past president of the Petticoat Squadron.

She was a member of University United Methodist Church. Mrs. Toney enjoyed bowling, knitting, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Jonathan Toney and wife Debbie of Moss Bluff and Steven Toney and wife Dorothy of Sulphur; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth "Ruth" Thornton of Moss Bluff and Mrs. Donald "Gail" LeDoux of Grand Lake; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George D. Toney; her parents, Dr. John S. and Katherine Weitz; and a granddaughter, Jamie Alison Toney.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, August 9, 2010 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Charlie Langford will officiate. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until time of services
