Kathleen Crookshank, 53, of Lake Charles, died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at her residence.
Mrs. Crookshank lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She was a 1976 graduate of Barbe High School and attended McNeese State University. Mrs. Crookshank was a legal secretary and a member of the Norman Business Law Center. She was also the secretary of the Cambodia Children's Sanctuary which established and operated an orphanage in Siem Reap.
Mrs. Crookshank was an active member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and served as a crusillo leader for eight years.
She is survived by her husband, John P. Crookshank of Lake Charles; two sons, Josh Crookshank and his wife Kayci and Jason Crookshank and his wife Lindsey both of Lake Charles; two daughters, Michelle Welch and her husband Brian of Westlake and Melissa Crookshank of Lake Charles; her mother Gloria Booth of Lake Charles. She is also survived by three brothers, David Booth and his wife Ernestine of Lake Charles, Ken Booth of Tampa, Florida, and Michael Booth of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Christine Cotten and her husband Tom of Austin, TX, Lorraine LeBleu and her husband Anthony of Lake Charles, and Libby Neveu and her husband Nathan of Huntsville, AL. In addition she is survived by four grandchildren, Ella, Evie, Hudson, and Luke Crookshank, and her mother-in-law, Elaine Crookshank of Lake Charles and a number of nieces and nephews.
Her father, O. Gene Booth preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, February 16, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. The Revs. Charles McMillin and Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home and from 8:00 AM until 12:30 PM on Thursday when the body will be taken to the church. A Scripture Service led by the Rev. Dr. George Carr will be held at 6:30 Pm in the funeral home chapel, followed by a rosary at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery.
