Kathleen Ford-Wilson

November 15, 1947 — January 2, 2022

Kathleen Ford-Wilson, 74 passed away in a local hospital on Sunday, January 2, 2022.  She was born on November 15, 1947 to Samuel and Faye Spell Bourgeois in Crowley, LA.

She was born in Crowley, LA but raised in Lake Charles.  She moved to Houston in her 30’s where she began her love for travel and adventure.  She worked in many professions, from a heavy equipment operator to a tug boat captain that traveled to Alaska.  She took on many challenges including walking across hot coals and diving the Great Barrier Reef.    She was a volunteer for a number of organizations, including Toys for Tots, and CASA senior citizens home where she played in the granny basketball league.

She eventually settled back down in Lake Charles because she couldn’t stand to be away from her grandchildren any longer.  They were the greatest joy of her life.  She was always quick to take the blame for her grandchildren’s mischief, and of course she spoiled them rotten. Her grandchildren will always remember her saying, “Who loves their Granny?”  To which they all responded, “I DO!”

If you knew Kat, you knew she loved to cook for everyone.  The aroma from her kitchen filled the hearts and souls of everyone who entered.  You never left her house without a full belly and many “I love you’s!”  She had the biggest heart, the brightest spirit and the sweetest smile.

Left to cherish her memory are, her beloved husband of twenty four years, Harry Wilson; her children, Lisa Fontenot (Craig), Samantha Mott, both of Lake Charles, LA and Tony Aguillard (Cathy) of Moss Bluff, LA; her grandchildren, Chase Aguillard (Ashley), Brittany McDaniel (Will), Micka Williams (Anna), Corey Mott (Courtney), Tyler LeLeaux (Heidi), Allison Bellue (Joseph) and Austin Aguillard; her sisters, Susan McMillin of Ft. Worth, TX and Sandra Hartman of Westlake, LA; her brothers, Ted Spell and Michael Bourgeois, both of Lake Charles, LA; nine great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Stephanie Ann Trahan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 7, 2022 at St. Theodore Catholic Church.  Father Aubrey Guilbeau will serve as Celebrant. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.  Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 6, with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM, and will resume at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9:00 AM until leaving in procession to the church.
