Kathleen "Kit" Burton

Kathleen Rose “Kit” Deshotel Burton, 74, of Moss Bluff, LA, died at 5:16 AM on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 in a local hospital.
 
Mrs. Burton was born June 28, 1941 in Fenton, LA and graduated from Fenton High School. Upon graduation, she moved to Lake Charles and has lived in Moss Bluff for the past thirty-four years. She began her career at Royer Homes and went on to develop, with her husband, Burton Communities, which included 90 East, Quail Ridge, Sugarloaf, Park Town, Down Towner and Williams Place subdivisions. Mrs. Burton was also the owner and operator of Kit Burton Insurance and Kits Décor. She was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, where she was a member of the Altar Guild and a board member at Episcopal Day School. She was a member of Krewe du Grande Bois and served as Queen in 2004. Mrs. Burton enjoyed cooking, gardening, and cleaning and was quick to make sure everything was “Kit clean.” She adored her family, especially her grandchildren and also loved to spend time with the Birthday Girls.
 
Mrs. Burton is survived by her husband of thirty-seven years, Floyd C. Burton, Sr.; sons, Clayton Hebert and wife Brenda of Lake Charles and Curt Burton and wife Ann of Lake Charles; daughter, Candace Armstrong of Baton Rouge; brother, Victor Deshotel of Wichita Falls, TX; sisters, Joy Hill of Minden, LA and Vearn Scroggins of Benton, AR; grandchildren, Curry Burton, Chaseton Hebert and Grace Armstrong; and numerous other family members and friends.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Eva Deshotel.
 
Her memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Reverends Boo Kay and Jack Myers will officiate. Visitation will begin at the church at 2:00 PM and a reception will follow the service.
