Kathleen Ruth Fontenot Berry

Kathleen Ruth Fontenot Berry, beloved mother and grandmother, was born on September 6, 1930, and passed away surrounded by family on April 7, 2023. Kathleen was born to Simon and Dora Fontenot in Ville Platte, LA, and raised in Oberlin, LA, where she graduated valedictorian of her senior class. She graduated from Southwestern (ULL) before moving to Lake Charles, LA. 

Kathleen took great pride in her children, and especially raising them in her beloved, strong Catholic faith. Nothing was more important to her than her Catholic faith evidenced in her daily life and easily observed by all who knew her. 

Kathleen was predeceased by her parents and three of her six children, Karen Crawford, Joan Dupree, and Chris Berry. She is survived by three daughters, Diane (Jimmie) Murphy of Lake Charles, and Susan Eaton, and Jean (Mac) Lander of Houston; sons-in-law Joe Crawford and Harry Dupree; her grandchildren Jill (Jeremy) Higdon of Chattanooga, TN, Jaime Crawford, Joey (Amelia) Crawford, John Paul Crawford, Christopher (Crissy) Murphy, Jason (Lori) Murphy, Brett Dupree all of Lake Charles; Matthew (Mari) Dupree, of and Nicholas (Haley) Dupree of Lafayette, LA; Travis (Kristan) Eaton, Kathleen (James) May, Frank Lander, and Emily Lander of Houston. She was also blessed with 17 great grandchildren and numerous godchildren. 

A private family funeral mass will be held at a future date. 

The family would like to thank Resthaven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Harbor Hospice for taking such great care of their mother.
