Kathryn Berwick, 61, of Lake Charles died at 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at her residence.
Kathryn was born on January 4, 1952 in Newellton, LA and lived in St. Joseph, LA until retiring and moving to Lake Charles three years ago. She was a 1969 graduate of Davidson High School and a 1973 LSU graduate. Kathryn was the former general manager of Delta Downs and also a rancher for Locust Land Plantation and the Lee Berwick Ranch. Kathryn was a member of the First Baptist Church in St. Joseph, LA.
She adored animals and had several pets. Kathryn raised registered Quarter Horses and registered Brahman Cattle. She belonged to the American Quarter Horse Association and the Louisiana Cattleman's Association.
She leaves behind a step mother, Betty Berwick; two step sisters, Tracy and Terry; several nieces and nephews; aunts, Barbara Allen Bagley and Mary Elinor Allen Crigler; uncle, James C. Crigler, Sr.; first cousins, Michele Schulz, George Bagley, Jr., Lydia Lauer, James C. Crigler, Jr., John D. Crigler, Sr., William S. Crigler, Sr., Allen S. Crigler, Sr., Robert Shep Crigler, Merle Berwick, Lynn Berwick, Larry Hatsfield, and Yvonne Simone; numerous second and third cousins; and special friends, Ricki Parker, Lisa Tate, Rowena Delahoussaye, and Pat Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Margery Allen Berwick and Lee Berwick, Sr.; a brother, Lee Berwick, Jr., uncles, Archie and Ellis Berwick; and an aunt, Willie Berwick.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, LA. Burial will be in Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton, LA under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday, LA on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 10:00 AM.
