Kathy David

Joy Kathleen “Kathy” David, 59, passed away in New Orleans, Louisiana on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, surrounded by family. She was born on October 1, 1964, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to William “Bill” and Ramona Minyard Holcomb.
A loving wife, mother, and aunt, Kathy will be missed greatly by all who knew her. She began a career in banking before following a calling to teach, working at several Calcasieu Parish schools and most recently as a business teacher and FBLA sponsor at A.M. Barbe High School. Kathy was dedicated to her students and their success. She treasured time spent with friends and family, especially her great nieces and nephews. Kathy was a faithful Christian and devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are, her husband of 38 years, Gordon J. David, Jr.; their children Andrew David (Holly) of Washington D.C. and Allison David of Lake Charles, LA; her mother, Ramona Holcomb of Louisville, KY; her siblings Karen Turner (Mike) of Louisville, KY, Mark Holcomb of Many, LA, and Rhonda Harb of Many, LA; a host of nieces, nephews and loving family members; and her granddog Jax.
She was preceded in death by her father, William “Bill” Holcomb.
Kathy’s memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, December 1, 2023, in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel with Reverend Steve James officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3:00 PM until the start of the service at 5:00 PM. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
