Kenneth H. Hopper

January 24, 1927 — March 24, 2012

Kenneth H. Hopper, 85, of Lake Charles transitioned from his worldly home at 1:30 PM on Saturday, March 24, 2012 to eternal life to be with his beloved wife, Carol Hopper who passed from this life on March 28, 2011.


Mr. Hopper was born in Dillard, Oklahoma on January 24, 1927 to the parents of Nettie and Nolan Hopper. Kenneth has lived in Lake Charles for the past 20 years. He worked as an Administrator for South Cameron Memorial Hospital for 25 years as well as served as Chief Deputy Coroner in Cameron Parish. Mr. Hopper had a huge impact of the initial building of the hospital. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII, where he received the Victory Ribbon, American Area Campaign Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Ribbon and two stars. Kenneth was a member of A.A.R.P., VFW Post# 2130, American Legion Post #1, the Lion's Club, Civil Defence for hurricane response, and the Red Cross. He was also a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.


He is survived by two daughters: Madeline Ann Savoie and husband James of Lake Charles, LA, and Marie Celeste Garvey- Petsch of Austin, TX; one brother, Jack Hopper of Tennessee; one granddaughter, Candice Marie Menard and husband Ricky; and one great grandson, Justin Menard.



His funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Burial will be at Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Tuesday at 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a family presentation to begin at 6:00 PM followed by a rosary. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM in the funeral home.
