Kenneth Harold Brown, 80, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, April 9, 2011, from the comfort of his home.
Mr. Brown was born, May 24, 1930, in Columbia, LA, the only child of Kenneth Norris and Mildred Rogers Brown. He was raised in Columbia and later moved to Lake Charles to attend McNeese State University. He proudly served the United States Navy from 1953-1957. He then married Mary Alice Hopper and settled in Lake Charles. Mr. Brown worked as a Welder and Instrument Tech for Conoco, having retired after thirty seven years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Charles, serving faithfully as a Deacon for forty five years and a class secretary. He was also a member of the Scottish rite of Free Masonry, 32nd degree. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his friends and family.
He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of fifty four years, Mary Alice Hopper Brown; one daughter, Ramona Brown; one son David Brown and wife Amy and one Grand daughter, Ava Brown, all of Lake Charles. Three brothers-in-law, Albert G. Bondurant of Baker, LA, James Hopper of Columbia and Ray Hopper and wife Betty of Plano, TX; a special cousin, Mary Patchett of Indianapolis, IN; many nieces and nephews; his dear friend and fishing buddy, Cotton Bushnell and his loving cat "Rooster".
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, April 11, 2011 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Doctor John White will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Sunday will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue Monday from 9:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
