Kenneth "Jerry" Monteilh

Kenneth (Jerry) Monteilh, 86, passed away at his residence on May 7, 2018.

 

He was born on November 7, 1931 in Bunkie, LA to Charles and Alice Curtis Monteilh.


Mr. Monteilh served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Southwest Louisiana Institute (University of Louisiana). He started his career with Shell Oil where he worked for 5 years and worked 35 years for Entex Gas Company retiring as a branch manager. He will be remembered for his big smile and his love for his family and pets. He enjoyed working in his garden and coaching youth sports. He was an avid McNeese and LSU sports fan.

 

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara Guillory Monteilh; children, Mark (Stacie) Monteilh, Monty Monteilh, Michelle (Mike) Mire, and Mitchell Monteilh; grandchildren, Mallory Mire, Fallon Roussell, Meredith Mire, Zachary Vinyard, Margaret Mire, and Isabella Monteilh; sisters Margaret Gibson and Mary Leger; and brother, Charles Dennis Monteilh.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Leona Chelette; and brother, Charles Fredrick Monteilh.

 

His funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, May 11, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor Daniel Torres will officiate. Burial will be at St. Catherine Cemetery in Rosa, LA under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 PM until 8 PM with a rosary to be recited at 6 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday at the funeral home from 9 AM until the start of the service.
