Kenneth Joseph "Pops" Brown, 72, of Lake Charles, LA died at 11:56 PM on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 in his residence. Mr. Brown was born September 17, 1942 in Eunice, LA and lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He attended LaGrange High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy onboard the U.S. aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Bon Homme Richard. He worked for the Lake Charles Fire Department and at Sears for fifteen years and later worked as the fire marshal at Boeing for four years in Lake Charles and four years in Huntsville, AL. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post #1. Mr. Brown enjoyed cooking and fishing, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He will always be remembered for his smile and his fun loving nature. Mr. Brown is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Judy Patricia Rentrop Brown; sons, Keith Wayne Brown and companion Amy Chandler of Ragley, Brian Morgan Brown and wife Debra Sue of Lake Charles, and Kenneth Scott Brown and wife Lori Conner of Lake Charles; sisters, Barbara Thibodeaux Courville and husband Jules of Eunice and Gail Fontenot and husband Rayburn of Lake Charles; twelve grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Dane Allen Brown; and parents, Youris and Mary Brown. His funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Father Matthew Cormier will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Friday from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM with an American Legion service at 6:30 PM and a Cursillo Rosary at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
