Kenneth Roy Ducote (91), of Hackberry, passed away in his residence surrounded by family following a short illness. Kenneth was born February 13, 1932 to the late Roy Anthony and Etna Johnson Ducote. He was raised in Hackberry with his brother Lionel, twin sister Marilyn, and cousin Laurence Williams. As a teenager, Kenneth worked as a motion picture operator at the Hackberry movie theater. He joined the Marine Corp at the age of 18 and was stationed in North Carolina.
Upon returning from service, Kenneth married the love of his life, Lillie Mae Trahan of Johnson Bayou and together they had seven children. Their home in Hackberry was always filled with laughter, love for God and each other. Many cups of coffee were shared with family, friends, and strangers around the kitchen table.
Kenneth worked many years at Cities Service Refinery, from which he eventually retired. Kenneth was a member of the Cameron Parish Police Juror for over fourteen years, including two terms as president. He loved his community and was honored to humbly serve.
Kenneth’s quick wit, gentle ways, and domino skills will be dearly missed by his family. His legacy includes 27 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters; Dianne (Joseph) Hantz, Evelyn (Michael) Backlund, Elizabeth (David) Vaughan, Michelle (Walter) Ledet, Rachael (Ferrall) LeBleu, Rebakah Dees, and daughter in law, Leesa Fenetz Ducote.
