Kenneth S. Brown

July 9, 1970 — August 27, 2021

Kenneth Scott Brown, 51, died Friday, August 27, 2021, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born to Kenneth Joseph Brown and Judy Patricia Rentrop Brown in Lake Charles, Ken was a 1989 graduate of LaGrange High School and a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. Ken proudly served his country as a medic in the U.S. Army Reserves and continued his passion for service as a firefighter in the Lake Charles Fire Department for 23 years. Ken was an active member and cherished leader in the Boy Scouts of America Calcasieu Area Council where he shared his passion for service and love of scouting to the community’s next generation of leaders. Of no greater importance to Ken was spending time with his wife and his son. Ken was steadfast in support of all his son’s activities and in his unyielding love for his wife. Ken created a legacy of service, courage and friendship that will be remembered by all who were fortunate to have known him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Lori Conner Brown; Son, Braden Conner Brown; his mother; and his two brothers, Keith Wayne Brown and girlfriend Carla Dickerson and Brian Morgan Brown and wife Debbie, all of Lake Charles. Ken was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Dane Alan Brown.

Funeral Services for Ken will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 3, 2021 at University Baptist Church. Father Wayne LeBlue will officiate.  Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with a Cursillo Rosary being recited at 5:30 PM.  Visitation will resume on Friday at 9:00 AM until the start of the service.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America Calcasieu Area Council.

The family would like to offer their sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr. Michael A. Bergeron, MD and Dr. Michael L. Broussard, MD as well as the amazing staff of Memorial Medical Group Oncology & Hematology for their dedicated, personal care.
