Kermit Karriker, 92, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away on December 24, 2024. Born on June 18, 1932, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Kermit lived a life defined by humility, kindness, and devotion to his family and faith.
Kermit was a man who never met a stranger, and everyone who knew him quickly became fond of his approachability. His playful spirit brought joy to those close to him, and his hard work and dedication made him a steadfast provider for his family.
A man of deep faith, Kermit was heavily involved in every church he attended. He was a Sunday School teacher, a deacon, and a dedicated student of the Bible, always preparing lessons or studying scripture. Over the years, he was an active member of First Baptist Church of Lake Charles, First Baptist of Moss Bluff, Trinity Baptist, and East Ridge Baptist Church in Lake Charles.
Kermit found great joy in the outdoors, whether working on his property or spending time on his tractor. Above all, he treasured time with his grandchildren, never missing a Grandparents’ Day, recital, or event where he could cheer them on and celebrate their accomplishments.
He is survived by his two sons, Bryan Karriker and wife Deborah Decker Karriker, and Galen Karriker and wife Kendra Karriker; and his four wonderful grandchildren, Claire, Camille, Graeson, and Korrinne Karriker.
Kermit is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Burton Karriker and Virginia Elizabeth Williams; his wife of forty years until her passing, and the mother of his children, Eileen Eve Kirkwood; and his late wife of twenty years, Nancy.
