Kevin Patrick O'Meara, 60, died Tuesday, December 16, 2014, in his residence. Born to James Francis and Estelle Ruth Lognion O'Meara in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Kevin was a 1973 graduate of Lake Charles High School and attended McNeese State University and safety schools in Grammercy, Louisiana. He was a master carpenter and was accomplished in virtually every job he took on. Kevin was baptized into the Catholic faith, where he served as an altar boy as a young man. He was an avid basketball and football fan, particularly where the New Orleans Saints/Pelicans and the Houston Rockets were concerned. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Kevin is survived by his wife, Vicky Romero O'Meara of Lake Charles; one son, Patrick O'Meara of Houston; three step-sons, David Lawson, Jeremy Wilson (Erin) and Nicholas Lawson (Anna Sunderbunch), all of Lake Charles; one step-daughter, Rachel Aguillard of Lafayette; one sister, Margaret Correro of New Orleans; four brothers, John O'Meara and wife Suzanne of Houston; Barry O'Meara and wife Gail of Lake Charles; Brian O'Meara of Key West, Florida; and Dennis O'Meara, also of Lake Charles; six step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home. Reverend Kelly Vigo will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 4 until 9 p.m., with a rosary and scripture service at 6 p.m., and will resume on Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time. Private interment services will be held at a later date at Our Lady of Seven Dolars Cemetery in Welsh, Louisiana.
