Kevin Wayne Miller, 46, of Ragley passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2014 in a local hospital. Mr. Miller was born in Welsh, a native of Hayes, LA and has lived most of his life in the Dry Creek and Ragley area. He worked in Law Enforcement with McNeese State University where he was named Officer of the Year in 1991. He was Deputized with Calcasieu Parish Sherriff's Office and Allen Parish Sherriff's Office and currently worked with Beauregard Parish Sherriff's Office. He was a member of the NRA and a Charter Member of the Louisiana University Police Association. He enjoyed being an assistant Scout Leader for Boy Scout Troop #125 and a CCD teacher for St. Pius X Catholic Church. Mr. Miller was always attentive to the needs of others, reaching out to them with a kind heart and giving spirit. "His heart was bigger than his disease". He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of twenty-one years, Katharine Emery Miller of Ragley; one son, Jonathon Xavier Lee Miller; parents, Jerry Wayne and Sheila LaComb Miller; one sister, Jill Williams and husband Dustin Heath, all of Ragley; three godchildren, Matthew Dean Williams of Ragley, Kathryn LaComb and Brett Gouldburn, both of Lake Charles; god parents, Johnny Miller of Jennings and Janet Matthis of Bell City; three brothers-in-law, Keith Emery and wife Mary, Kenneth Emery and Robert Emery, all of England; numerous nieces and nephews and dear friends, Coach Herman Ray Hill and State Representative Dorothy Sue Hill; Lonnie and Jackie Johnson of Longville and his confidant and voice of reason, Dr. Francis Bride. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dean and Maudry LaComb and Aladin Miller and Maybell Miller. Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Saturday, November 15, 2014 at St. Pius X Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Tim Goodly will officiate. Interment will follow in Dry Creek Cemetery. Visitation Friday will be from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 7:00 PM. Visitation Saturday will be from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the funeral home. Pallbearers for services will be Craig Hill, David Hennigan, Shannon LaVergne, John Harrison, Heath Williams and Lonnie Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Williams, Ricky LaComb and Michael LaComb.
