Kirby K. Awagain, 85, of Lake Charles, LA died at 9:55 AM on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 in his residence.Mr. Awagain was born March 27, 1928 in Natchitoches, LA and was a graduate of Morgan City High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He earned an Associate's Degree from Nicholls State University, a Bachelor's in Business and a Master's in Business Administration, both from Louisiana State University. He was a Vocational Educator in Greensburg, LA and Morgan City, LA. Mr. Awagain later worked in the Louisiana State Department of Education and served as the Director of Vocational Education for the State of Louisiana. He also worked on the State Commission on Law Enforcement, retiring in 1986. He moved to Lake Charles, LA in 1997.Mr. Awagain is survived by his wife of sixty years, Marguerite Lewis Awagain; son, Kenneth K. Awagain, both of Lake Charles, LA; daughters, Debra A. Walters and husband Bryan of Columbia, SC and Cynthia Awagain of Lake Charles; grandsons, Benjamin and Eric Walters; and nephew, Dr. Don Ray Guzzetta of Kenner, LA.His cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Lake Charles, LA. Private inurnment will be in Resthaven Garden of Memories in Baton Rouge, LA at a later time.
