Kristy Rivers

Kristy passed away in her home on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. She was born October 27, 1953 in Lake Charles, LA.

Kristy graduated from LaGrange High School in 1971 and attended LSU where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority.  She earned a B. S. in Education in 1975 and a Master' s Degree in Education in 1990.  She taught in the Pasadena, Texas Independent School District and was a teacher and counselor in the East Baton Rouge Parish School District.  She returned to Lake Charles where she worked with her husband at Don Rivers & Associates, Inc.

Kristy loved family gatherings and LSU football and baseball.  She was an amazing, selfless mother and wife, a loving sister and aunt, and a compassionate friend and confidant to many.

Kristy was very active in ministry at Trinity Baptist Church, volunteering in children’s ministry and as a Sunday school teacher.  She loved serving with her daughters and could be counted on for whatever was needed.  She was an example of a true servant of Christ and showed her love through adversity, staying faithful always to her Savior.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Lamar Rivers; her daughters, Caroline Elizabeth Rivers and Katelyn Elise Rivers.  She is also survived by her siblings Robert “Bob” McCall (Brenda), Eleanor Henley (Ronnie), Kathy Screen, and William “Bill” McCall (Nadine); twelve nieces and nephews Craig McCall, Sarah Canup, Chris McCall, Erin Alley, Carol Marcantel, Brian Henley, Scott Henley, Shannon Beacham, Jimmy Screen, Tommy Screen, Thomas McCall and Andrew McCall; and 29 great-nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carroll H. McCall and Elizabeth Caldwell McCall; her brother-in-law, Pat Screen; and sister-in-law, Pam Truax McCall.

Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Trinity Baptist Church North Venue under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the North Venue and continue on Friday from 12:30 PM until the start of the service.  A private burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
