L.C. Welch left this earth on Saturday, January 05, 2013 and entered eternity, to forever be with his LORD and Savior. He was born on October 3, 1931 in Mont Belvieu, Texas to Cleo and Oma Welch. A graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, Mr. Welch served in the Texas National Guard and completed multiple educational and technical courses.
Mr. Welch was a man of many talents who enjoyed careers as a heavy equipment operator, airplane pilot and tug/supply boat captain. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 106, an avid fan of LSU Tigers football and the LA Swashbucklers Arena Football. He was a man who loved his GOD, cherished his family, cared for his fellow man and enjoyed life. Mr. Welch was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 7, 2013 from 5-9 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff, with a Scripture Service at 6:30. Visitation will resume at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 until time of the Memorial Service at 1 p.m., followed by burial at New Ritchie Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Rev. James Rivers, Rev. David Smith and Rev. Jack Tillery. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Phillip Welch; mother-in-law, Exie McInnis; brother-in-law, James Burt and niece Rhonda Caskey.
Those left to honor his memory are his devoted wife, Mariella Welch; children Jeff Cheryl (Welch) O'Neal and John Robyn (Welch) Decoteau; grandchildren, David Kayla O'Neal, Phillip Nicole O'Neal; Michael Courtney O'Neal, Timothy Ashley O'Neal and Kiley Decoteau; great-grandchildren, Abbie, Emma, Phillip, Jr., Peyton, Isla, Ryder, Ella, Lainey and Demi O'Neal; sister-in-law, Marlynn Burt; nieces nephews, Dale Beverly Watkins, Steve Kathy Knotts, Steve Krystal Burt, Paul Jennifer Grayson, D.J. Laura Caskey, James Amanda Caskey, Randi and Katie Morgan, extended family and many friends.
Special thanks to Laurelle Shirley, his loving friend and compassionate nurse, the administration and staff of Medices Hospice Care and the many friends who sustained us through prayer, love and acts of kindness.
