Lanson Vidrine

March 12, 1926 — March 12, 2025

Lanson Vidrine, a lifelong resident of Lake Charles, passed away on his 99th birthday, March 12, 2025, in the comfort of his home. He was the last surviving sibling of ten children.

Born and raised in Lake Charles, Mr. Vidrine led a full and meaningful life, always dedicated to his family and community. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Randolph. Following his service, he worked as a mechanic at Tom Aday's, before retiring as a maintenance repairman at Sowela Technical Community College.

Mr. Vidrine was an active member of South City Christian Church, where he found strength and peace through his strong faith. He was well-known for his love of the outdoors, particularly fishing, rabbit hunting, and shrimping, hobbies he enjoyed throughout his life.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Helen Manuel (Jerry) and Loree Richard (Anthony Simoes); grandchildren, Jessica Manuel, Allison Schwartz, Kimberly Richard, Samantha Richard, and Christopher Cavazos; and his great grandchildren, Ada, Ella, and Conan.

He was preceded in death by his first and second wife, Dorothy Vidrine and Sarah Vidrine; daughter, Mary Cavazos; his parents, Theomile and Felonise Vidrine; and siblings, Isabella McGee, Ervin Vidrine, Agnes "Pope" Vidrine, Rose Poff, Della Dardeau, Willard Vidrine, Essie Vail, Helen Vidrine, and Earl Vidrine.

Visitation will begin on Thursday, March 13, 2025 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A graveside service will be held on Friday at Prien Memorial Park at 10:00 AM.

The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Villa Maria for the care and compassion they showed to Mr. Vidrine.
