Larry A. Murphy

Larry Alvin Murphy, age 59, passed Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at a New Orleans hospital.

A resident of Lake Charles, he was formerly employed with Shetler's Paint and Body as a mechanic. Larry was an Army Veteran. A very outgoing guy, Larry always had lots of friends he loved to visit with. He also enjoyed the game of golf. He will be missed very much by all who knew and loved him. Preceding him in death was his father, A.W. Murphy, and his paternal grandparents, Allie and Nola Murphy.

Survivors include his mother, Geraldine Murphy of Lake Charles; a sister, Nancy McCann and husband, Rev. E.J. McCann of Kinder; a brother, Russell Murphy and wife, Jackie of Gillis; a son, Michael Murphy of California; two nephews, Corey McCann and wife, Suzanne of Lake Charles and Jason McCann and wife, Rachel of Houston, TX; and a host of good friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2010, at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Rev. E.J. McCann will officiate. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. prior to the service. Larry was cremated as per his wishes. But, through his death, he was able to give the one of the greatest gifts of all, the gift of sight through organ donation, which would have pleased Larry very much.
