Larry Joseph Broussard, Sr.

September 4, 1943 — March 17, 2015

Larry Joseph Broussard, Sr., of Grand Lake, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at a Houston Hospital after an extended illness. Larry was born in Lake Charles and was a life-long resident of Cameron Parish. He worked as a pipefitter and retired as a Deputy Sheriff for Cameron Parish, LA. Larry had a caring spirit and served the residents of Cameron Parish with not only love and concern, but also a lot of pride. He enjoyed Cajun music and dancing as well as playing an active role in his grandchildren's lives by attending their sporting events and just spending time with them. He was also an organ donor, following in the footsteps of his granddaughter, Lacey Broussard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harris and Annie Alice Broussard, infant sister, Harriett Broussard and granddaughter, Lacey Broussard. Those left to honor and cherish his memories are his loving wife of 50 years, Sherrie Richard Broussard; children, Stacey Courville and husband Tim; Grand Lake; Tim Broussard and wife Shona, Carlyss; Jamie Broussard and wife Tracie, Grand Lake; Robbie Broussard and wife Susan, Grand Lake; Larry Broussard, Jr., Lafayette; Amanda Jessup and husband Mark, Grand Lake; daughters of the heart, Susan Broussard and Melissa Pellerin; sisters, Shirley Primeaux, Lake Charles and Mabel Starr, Starr City, Arkansas; grandchildren, Elisha, Trent, Caleb, Jessica, Maureen, Gabrielle, Gavin, Grace, Kane, Katie, Cloie, Joseph, Annie, Zane, Ava and Luke; great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Julia and twins on the way; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday March 20, 2015 with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM Saturday with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Andrew Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Sweetlake Community Cemetery. The family extends special thanks to Dr. Keane O'Neal, Dr. Robert Craig Broussard and Cliff Courville. Memorials may be made in his memory to Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency, 3545 North 10 Service Rd W. Suite 300, Metairie, LA 70002.
