Larry "Rabbit" Vidrine, Sr.

August 22, 1950 — July 12, 2018

Larry “Rabbit” Vidrine, age 67, passed away surrounded by loved ones on July 12, 2018 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.

 

Rabbit was born to Stanley “Shorty” and Marie Vidrine, on August 22, 1950 and a lifetime resident of Lake Charles, and parishioner of St. Margaret Catholic Church. In addition to a long standing career as a truck driver with Acme Truck Lines, he and wife, Gertrude, are known for their selfless acts amongst their neighbors and community. He was always ready to turn up his Cajun music and ‘pass a good time’.

 

He will surely be missed by all and is survived by his wife Gertrude, brothers, David (Jean) Vidrine, Daniel “Coon” (Evie) Vidrine, and sister Ella Mae “Sis” Gaunt; brother in laws Robert Duplechin, Donald (Jean) Duplechin, and Eddie Duplechin; along with son, Larry Vidrine Jr. with grandchildren Brianna, Degan, and Donnie; adopted daughter Candy Pike with daughter Candace; stepsons, Ronald (Luann) Monceaux with grandson Dustin (Henrietta) of Austin, Texas and Mark Monceaux of Houston Texas with grandchildren Kevin and Edith; niece whom he helped raise, Chloe Moon as well as many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Sunday, July 15 at 2:00pm. The Rev. Sam Orsot will officiate. Visitation will be on Saturday, July 14 from 5:30pm - 9:00pm with a Cursillo Rosary at 6:30pm. Visitation will resume on Sunday from 11:00 until the time of service. Burial will follow at Lacassine Cemetery, Also known as Saint John Cemetery.
