Laura Hinchey Stuart Breaux, 67, of Lake Charles, LA passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at her home.
Laura was born in Baton Rouge, LA on January 18, 1957 where she was raised, and she graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in 1975. She played on her high school volleyball team, and also enjoyed playing Catholic Youth Organization softball. Laura received her undergraduate degree in Sociology from LSU. In 1983, her marriage to Sam at Christ King Catholic Church on the LSU campus led to the beginning of her life with Sam in Lake Charles. Receiving a Master of Social Work from LSU in 1985, her career of more than 30 years began at the Family and Youth Counseling Agency. She later retired from Christus St. Patrick Hospital as a part of the school based health team at Washington Marion High School and Ray D. Molo Middle School. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church where she was an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and was also the leader of the ladies Cursillo group.
Laura was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. No one was a stranger to Laura and she treated all with equal kindness. Like her mother, Laura enjoyed LSU football and baseball. In retirement, one of her favorite places was her backyard patio where she would sit and chat with friends and family; and have those peaceful times gardening and being in nature. She was dedicated to her prayer life and spent much time praying for others. Generous was her spirit in listening and talking with people. During Laura’s recent health struggles, she communicated and understood even more that God loves her. She spent many of her last days expressing to others that God loves them and so does she.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 40 years, Samuel Peter Breaux of Lake Charles; son, Thomas Peter Breaux and daughter-in-law, Anna Bruce Breaux of Lake Charles; brother, James Ewell Brown Stuart, Jr. of Baton Rouge; sisters, Ann S. Cascio of Baton Rouge, Nancy C. Stuart of Baton Rouge, and Molly S. Addison (Lawrence) of Katy, TX; and faithful friends, Beth and John Harvey of Katy, TX and Rhonda Broussard of Lake Charles and her children, Trent, Megan and Jacob. In addition, she leaves behind loving in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
