Laura Jane Moneyhon

August 30, 1948 — March 25, 2022

Laura Jane “Janie” Moneyhon, 73, passed away Friday, March 25, 2022 in a local hospital. She was born on August 30, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri to Clifford Boyer and Hazel “Granny” West.

Janie was the best waitress in town.  She recently retired from Waffle House on Lakeshore Drive after eighteen years of faithful service.  Her co-workers at Waffle House were her second family.  She enjoyed yard work, tending to her flowers, crocheting, and putting puzzles together.  She was straight forward, stubborn and quirky.  She was a great cook, and most of all, she was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished her family and will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish her memory are, her daughter, Angie Dofflemyer (Jason); her grandson, Austin Brown (Shelbie); her great grandson, Kyler Brown; her daughter by heart, Dawn Beshears; her dog, Peanut; her cat, Angel; and her work family, Liz, Linda and Alyssa.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at University Baptist Church, located at 4505 Lake Street, Lake Charles, LA.  Msgr. Jace Eskind will officiate.  Visitation will be at the church from 10:30 AM until the start of the service.  Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.

The family would like to thank Maria, and the entire ICU staff at Christus St. Patrick Hospital, also Erin Hicks, and Heart of Hospice for their compassionate care during Laura’s final days.
