Laura Broussard Hathaway, 67, of Lake Charles died on Saturday, April 13, 2013 in a local hospital.
Laura was born June 22, 1945, the third of seven children born to Irene and Rene Broussard. She was a lifelong Catholic resident of Lake Charles who attended St. Margaret Catholic Church. Laura graduated from LaGrange High School in 1963 and played an active role in reunion planning since graduation. She retired from BellSouth after 30 years of service. During this time she maintained a very active level of involvement with the Pioneers of America including coordinating the first ever Relay for Life Cancer Walk here in Calcasieu Parish.
Laura enjoyed spending time playing cards with her friends and watching NCIS. And like most of us, she enjoyed a good joke to keep her laughing.
Those left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Menda Spell of Durham, NC., Catherine Hathaway of Sulphur, and Tebble Robertson of Moss Bluff; two sisters, Dorothy Lee of Atlanta, GA and Cathy Butler and husband Burt of DeRidder, LA; a brother, Larry Broussard and wife Nelda of Westlake, LA; 6 grandchildren, Lindse, Corey, Sara, Cami, Peyton and Noah along with 3 great grandchildren: Adisyn, Aidyn and Landon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Charles, Eugene and David Broussard.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Prien Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM.
Donations may be made in memory of Laura B. Hathaway to Jeff Davis Bank.
