Laurence "Lucie" Lutgring Jacques, 69, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2010, at 1:52 a.m. in a local hospital.
Originally from Erath, Lucie made her home in Lake Charles for 60 years. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Lucie will be remembered for her passion for theater, teaching, family and friends.
Lucie was a passionate teacher for 38 years in Calcasieu Parish, in both public and private schools. She was an advocate, mentor and friend to countless students at Westlake, St. Louis, and Barbe High Schools, as well as LCB Academy.
Lake Charles theatre-goers will undoubtedly recall her performances with local community theatre troupes, specifically as "Ousie Boudreaux" in Steel Magnolias, Gypsy Rose Lee in Gypsy, and numerous performances in "The Society for the Preservation of Songs with Lyrics that Make Sense" among others.
Lucie's vast network of friends will always remember her for her extraordinary flair for decorating, her engaging stories, her love of the arts, and her one-of-a-kind cup of coffee.
She will be lovingly remembered by her Sweet Prince Hunter and baby brother Ashton Fisher as they continue her tradition of celebrating life with fishing, hunting, art, music , food and friends.
Lucie was preceded in death by her parents, Roberta Margaret DuBois Lutgring and her father, Jean Gautreaux "Goat" Lutgring and her former husband, Robert T. Jacques.
She is survived by her husband, Hanan "Haney" D. Delaney, her son Sean Gautreaux.
Jacques and his wife, Mary Ann, their children Hunter and Ashton Fisher Jacques; her daughter, Holly Jacques Turner and her husband, Mike; her sisters, Brenda Lutgring Watkins and Stephanie Lutgring; and her two nieces, Erica and Liza.
Her funeral will be at Saturday, August 7, at 12:30 at Immaculate Conception Cathedral under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor Charles DuBois will officiate. Visitation will be today, Friday, August 6, at Johnson Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. with a remembrance and rosary at 6:00 p.m. Donations may be made in Lucie's name to the Miracle Foundation at www.miraclefoundation.org or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at www.lls.org/ls. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you find a special way to thank a teacher.
