Laurene Broussard

Laurene R. Broussard, 76, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 4:41 PM January 13, 2014 in a local care facility. Laurene R. Broussard was born on January 15, 1937 in Lake Charles, LA to Bernard and Ernestine Ruckstuhl. Mrs. Broussard graduated from LaGrange High School in 1954 and attended McNeese State University for two years. She worked for the Calcasieu Parish School Board from 1974-1999. She enjoyed being around her friends and family. Mrs. Laurene enjoyed eating with the "girls" every Friday, sewing, shopping and enjoying the outdoors deer hunting. She also enjoyed collecting antiques. Mrs. Laurene is survived by her husband, Donald James Broussard; two sons, Philip Bryan Broussard of Lake Charles and Timothy Scott Broussard and wife Sharon "Lee Lee" of Lake Charles ; one daughter, Laurene Elizabeth "Beth" Broussard and Fiancé Jared Faulk of Lake Charles; five grandchildren, Joshua Keith Broussard , Matthew Bryan Broussard, Philip Brandon Broussard, Kanon Kade Broussard, and Karlee Kay Broussard; one brother, "Pat" Robert Earl Ruckstuhl and wife Ann of Corpus Christi, TX; two great grandsons, Brandon Michael Broussard and Adam Joseph Broussard; and one sister, Mildred R. Walling and husband Roy of Houston, TX. She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, George Adam Ruckstuhl; and one sister, Edna Adele Ruckstuhl. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a Scripture service and Rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at Johnson Funeral Home at 8:00 AM Thursday until time of services. Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate services. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church Cornerstone Campaign. The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at St. Patrick's Hospital for the care that was given to Mrs. Laurene.
