Laurice M. Soileau

Laurice M. Soileau, 84, of Lake Charles died Sunday, September 12, 2010 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Soileau was born, raised and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Eunice, LA. She has lived most of her adult life in Lake Charles. She worked over thirty years at Rosewood Nursing Home as a Certified Nurses Aide. Following her retirement she continued private care nursing for patients of terminal illness.

Mrs. Soileau was a devoted Christian Woman of faith. She believed in praising the Lord, enjoyed prayer meetings and was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church and the Catholic Charismatic Renewal.

Mrs. Soileau will be most remembered as a giving woman whom always put others before herself. She also enjoyed visiting, talking on the phone and was an avid baseball fan.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 68 years, Birgus Soileau of Lake Charles; two sons, Birgus Ralline "Paul" Soileau, Jr. and wife Mable and Phillip J. Soileau and wife Derenda, all of Lake Charles; six grandchildren, Dennis Soileau and wife Kerrye of Sulphur, Karen Lavergne and husband Nelson, Mark Soileau, Theresa Kilburn, Christina Soileau and Phillip J. Soileau, Jr. and wife Paula, all of Lake Charles; seven great- grandchildren and one sister, Rose Manuel of Moss Bluff.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Modern and Nannie Manuel; five brothers, three sisters and her first grandchild, Brent Paul Soileau.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 14, 2010 in St. Henry's Catholic Church. Fathers Danny Torres and Rueban Buller will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation Monday will be from 3:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a rosary followed by a Devine Mercy Chaplet beginning at 6:30 PM. Visitation Tuesday will be from 8:00 AM until 1:30 PM in the funeral home.
