Mom, being humble, devoted, charitable and extremely practical made sure we knew she wanted her obituary to read, "She lived, she died, get back to your lives." Instead, her loved ones want all to know she never met a stranger, visitors were welcome anytime, and there was plenty of food, love, wit, and laughter to share. Lauris Landry Byrley, born July 1, 1929, died September 28, 2013 in a local hospital. Born to Jeanette R. and Louis Norman Landry, Mrs. Byrley was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. She graduated from St. Charles Academy in 1946 and was a charter member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. She was very active in the South Lake Charles Little League and a member of the League's Ladies Auxiliary. Her family and her church were her passion. Mrs. Byrley is survived by four sons, Martin Byrley and wife Gail, Gregory Byrley and wife Diana, Jeffery Byrley and wife Patsy, all of Lake Charles, and Christopher Byrley and wife Kathie of Maplewood; one daughter, Susan Couch and husband Steve of Lake Charles; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one sister, Elaine Julias of Crystal River, Florida. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, life-long friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Willie Byrley and three brothers, Louis, Aaron, and Richard Landry. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Brian Clements, Tim Coffey, Angela and Bob Little; her caretakers, Tressa, CoCo (Netra), Rochell, as well as the nursing staff on the 8th floor of LCMH.
